Founded by two Bay Area students who care about the details — and built on doing the job properly.
Like most students, we moved a lot — and after enough moves, our couch had seen better days. Rather than replace it, we figured we’d try to fix it ourselves. We borrowed a machine from a friend and started reading everything we could find about upholstery: fabric types, cleaning solutions, what actually lifts a stain and what just pushes it deeper.
What surprised us was how much the technique matters. Velvet, microfiber, linen, chenille and performance weaves all react differently to moisture, heat and agitation. Use the wrong approach and you can leave water rings, flatten the pile, or set a stain permanently. Use the right one and a couch you were ready to throw out looks close to new again. Ours did — and we were hooked.
That’s how Looma started. Feruz and Ali, two Bay Area students who got a little obsessed with doing this properly, and decided to do it for other people too. We upgraded from a borrowed machine to professional-grade extraction equipment, and one of us later left a job in logistics to focus on the business full time.
Today we clean couches, sofas, sectionals, armchairs, dining chairs, mattresses, area rugs and carpeted stairs across the Bay Area. We come to you. We check the fabric before we start, confirm your price up front, and we’re honest about what cleaning can and can’t fix — some damage is permanent, and we’d rather tell you that than take your money and hope.
Upholstery is where we started and it’s what we do best, but it isn’t where we intend to stop. San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and we’d like to help make it one of the cleanest. Building that takes time, and it starts with getting every single couch right.
Every job starts the same way — we identify the fabric, test a hidden spot, and choose the gentlest method that gets real results. We’re upfront about what cleaning can and can’t fix, we confirm exact pricing from your photos before we arrive, and we leave your home the way we found it, just fresher.
We’re mobile across the whole Bay Area — roughly 50 miles around San Francisco — covering the city and its neighborhoods, the Peninsula, the South Bay, the East Bay, and Marin.
We inspect the fabric and condition first, so the method matches the material.
Dry vacuuming when needed removes loose debris before any moisture touches the fabric.
A fabric-safe pre-treatment is applied to loosen soil, body oils, and everyday buildup.
We gently agitate only when the fabric can safely handle it.
A fabric-safe rinse and extraction lifts out the loosened soil.
Multiple dry passes reduce moisture so drying starts immediately.
We do a final check and leave you with simple drying guidance.
Most stains, odors, and everyday buildup improve dramatically with our deep-cleaning process, and furniture comes back looking and smelling fresh. A few older or set-in marks can be stubborn, so we'll always tell you honestly what to expect after we see the fabric.
Most upholstery dries within 10–24 hours depending on fabric type, airflow, humidity, cushion thickness, and how much cleaning was needed. Fans and ventilation can help speed up drying.
